1. Television News Channel of the year - The
news channel of choice for a majority of viewers. It
should have been at the cutting edge of news breaks
and analysis which should have been quick, exclusive,
unbiased, stylistic, authentic in its presentation of
news by anchors and reporters, with a mix of news and
current affairs programmes which serves as a complete
package for the viewer.
2. Music Channel of the year - The music channel
of choice of a majority of viewers. The channel should
be innovative in its programme and music video presentation
and scheduling, promos, have veejays who have developed
a cult following and mass appeal, with excellent ground
event activity, road shows, and bonds with its target
group.
3. Entertainment Television Channel of the year -
The channel which has achieved top of mind awareness
or which has drastically and effectively changed its
look, feel and packaging, or which has consistently
built up/maintained viewership/TRP ratings courtesy
its varied range of programmes throughout or for a large
part of the year.

THE
PROGRAMMING AWARDS:
1. TV Sitcom/Comedy Show of the year - A comedy
show which has tickled audiences, keeping them in good
mirth, courtesy its humorous content or has tackled
a new situational scenario and has maintained or increased
its viewership throughout or for a large part of the
year.
2. Best Continuing TV show of the year - A TV programme
which was launched before the year 2001 and which continued
to appeal to audiences throughout or for a large part
of the year. The storyline/content should have held
the show together.
3. Best Current Affairs Programme - A current
affairs show which covered issues of contemporary interest
in a relevant and interesting manner from all angles
and stayed top of mind with audiences, is conducted
well and has consistently increased its viewership due
to its unique content or portrayal/depiction of events
impartially.
4. Best Business Show of the year - A show that
covered business developments continuously, consistently
and in an unbiased manner with insights beyond the news.
And it managed to simplify complicated business terminologies
for the common man, thus helping him in taking better
financial and investment decisions.
5. Best Music Show - The musical TV show/event
which has high production values, has a well thought-out
concept, outstanding music content, format, and execution,
anchor/veejay or has built or created a taste in audiences
for a new music genre, or has developed a new viewing
pattern amongst viewers, due to its uniqueness and got
maximum viewership. A show which can serve as a benchmark
for the year in the music field.
6. Best Sports programme - The sports based TV
show/programme which maintained viewer interest through
its racy and sharp coverage of action on the field with
inputs from the studio, or a studio based show involving
participants and effectively using sports as a theme.
It should have high production values, a well thought-out
concept, format, and execution and which got maximum
viewership among sports based events/programmes all
throughout or for a large part of the year.
7. Best Thriller/Horror Show of the year: A television
series, single or multiepisodic show in the fiction
or non-fiction genre which covered issues of the supernatural
or macabre in a manner which lended immense realism
to it or covered new ground in this genre during the
year.

Best non-fiction show of the year: Non-fiction
programming is any program that depicts actual people
and events with the primary intent to inform. For this
category, entries will cover a television series or
single episodic show in the category of documentary/quiz/game/reality
show which scored high points with viewers thanks to
its content.
9.
Best Kid's show of the year: This award will be
given for a series or a special program designed primarily
for children (ages 2-16) in any format (live action,
animation, puppetry). The program's primary target audience
is the child but that does not mean that it will not
be open to family viewing.
10.
Best TV Show of the year - The TV show of TV shows
for the year. A show which stood out from the rest of
the pack becoming all the rage, a show that a majority
of Indians tuned into and identified with. The show
that became a part of the language of the TV viewer.
11. Best Promo of the year for a TV show - The
promo for a TV show/serial which stood because of its
content, the manner in which it was edited, the use
of music and clips from the show it was trying to push
and which worked as an effective magnet to draw viewers
into the actual show itself.
12. Best Background Music for a TV Show - This
award will be given for background music for a single
episode of a regular series, or for a special, whether
it be variety, music or cultural programming. Only the
music composer/director is eligible and best background
music score excludes the award for music for the best
title song. It is the responsibility of the music director
who does the background music to bring the program into
a unified whole by making or supervising the following:
composing, transitions, themes or underscore, arranging
original or pre-existing material for the given orchestra
or band, rehearsing the performers and overseeing music
that needs to be pre-recorded.

PERSONALITY AWARDS:
1.TV Lyricist of the year- The individual (male
or female) who has provided the lyrics for a title song/
song for a television show/series/event. The lyrics
should have lent - along with the music composition
- to the title song/song becoming hummable in most homes.
2.
TV Scriptwriter of the year - An individual or a
team which worked on a TV show's script. The script
should be an exemplary piece of work, complete in all
respects, which made the job of creating the TV show
as easy as a pie. The TV scriptwriter whose script for
a TV Show, with its twists and turns, and his unique
treatment of the subject was a major reason for the
success of the show.
3. TV Music director of the year - The music director
is the individual/team who wrote/composed the music
for the title song and set the tone for a show/event/continuing
show.In the Indian context, music directors often compose
the music for the title song, leaving the background
music for the show in another composer's hands. The
individual who composes the music for the title song
is eligible for this awards.

Best TV Picture Editor of the year: This award will
be given to a credited team or credited individual for
either single camera or multicamera show for excellence
in the area of picture editing
5. Best Title singer for a TV Show - The singer
who rendered the most catchy, memorable title song for
a TV show/continuing serial. The song should have become
popular - as Hindi film songs do - with audiences and
served as a signature, getting identified with the TV
show itself, so much so that viewers actually wanted
to listen to it in the background of their daily work.
In simpler terms, the singer whose rendering of a particular
title song from a TV show has been loved and sung by
a majority of viewers.
6.TV Director of the year - The individual whose
work during the year stands out because of the treatment
of subject/situations, who managed to get the best out
of his actors, the cameraman, the music director, the
editor and managed to create a TV show which became
highly popular.
7.TV Actress of the year - An artiste whose
portrayal of a role/s was so effective that she became
identified with it, she became the character, the character
became her. She should have displayed a range of emotions
and histrionics which made the character extremely believable
and real. She should have become an icon for viewers.
She should be known more by her screen name than her
real one ideally. The character should have become memorable
and will be remembered for a long time to come as one
of Indian Television's great TV characters and she should
be on the primary reasons the show's popularity.
8. TV Actor of the year - An artiste whose portrayal
of a role/s was so effective that he became identified
with it, he became the character, the character became
him. He should have displayed a range of emotions and
histrionics which made the character extremely believable
and real. He should have become an icon for viewers.
He should be known more by his screen name than his

of Indian Television's great TV characters and she should

9. TV Personality of the year - A TV anchor /
host / actor / presenter / professional who emerged
as one of the outstanding TV performers during the year
who overshadowed all his peers on the screen and should
have consistently topped in terms of impact, visibility,
acceptability. His presence in a show should have remarkably
helped in improving the chances of its success.
10. Best TV Anchor of the year - An individual who
carried a show on his/her shoulders, made his/her guests
comfortable, handled difficult situations with aplomb,
ad libbed well, and who served as a good link between
the various elements that go to make a show.
11. TV Actress in a comic role - An actress who
displayed a fantastic sense of the comic, humour, timing,
improvisation and whose essaying of a role had the audiences
in splits courtesy her performance.
12. TV Actress in a negative role- An artiste
who played a villainous character effectively, should
have been loved/hated because she understood the nuances
of villainy and brought out the best from within herself
to become identified with the character.
13.TV
